Week 3 Assignment #2

                          Informal Assessment

The importance of informal assessment has to do with teachers being able to properly gauge where a student is at academically speaking and whether or not further work is needed to get a kid(s) back on track to where he, she, or they should be on a weekly basis. It also allows teachers to teach to their students not only as a class but individually as well. Not all of the time a student is going to understand the kind of work assigned to them week after week, so the informal assessment method would better allow teachers to become practically tutors in a addition to teaching a classroom full of children, all while explaining to the particular students falling behind how to do the work on a more personal level. This method of teaching/learning can be quite beneficial, especially to the student as some kids are just naturally personal individuals who have difficulty learning the ropes in group settings as opposed to whenever it becomes more of a conversational one on one session between the student and teacher. Since Psychology and Children's Education arguably go hand in hand, you have to be able to see it from the child's perspective in order to further diagnose the problem that would lead to the creation of a solution that benefits all parties involved. This is part of what birthed the informal Assessment method and aims to be the solution to the specific problem that causes students to lag behind in their school work.
