                                                       Week 8 – Assignment #1

From reading the passage on the hoatzin, my original comprehension of it all had me thinking that the hoatzin was a small insect that lived on a branch with claws attached to its wings that are used for hanging on to trees. From the way the hoatzin is described in the passage, it implies that the insect is still in its younger stage since a hoatzins' claws normally come off their wings when they get older in life. After further research online, I came to realize that the hoatzin is actually a chicken-sized bird also known as the stink bird located along the coasts of South America that coincidentally happens to be the national bird that represents the country of Guyana. Quite a contrast from what I initially envisioned.

                                                       Week 8 - Assignment #2

From studying the definitions of each term, the theories and models given can affect people’s way of comprehending certain bits of information given to them through the way the information itself is processed in the first place. It can either provide a source of inspiration to come up with something supporting the theories/models or it can throw you off completely from the mark in your explanation. First instance with the Schema Theory, it becomes a case of bringing the knowledge you have already acquired throughout the years and using it as a way to add your two cents into the system of ideas already laid out with the intention to either support the theory/model or not. Now when you do this kind of explaining, chances are your deduction may not correctly answer the question the theory itself is thought to have explained itself through other philosophers or the opposite, it’s a 50/50 toss-up.  Similar thing with such models as the role of reasoning. With the Role of Reasoning, you’re being asked to analyze a situation, compare certain settings, draw conclusions, while forming your concepts, while you may not necessarily subscribe to that method of problem solving, therefore it can affect the way you analyze and process information a certain way, especially when not used to doing it their specific way.
